2022 Chancellor’s Circle Appeal
Current: 2022 Chancellor’s Circle appeal -> Billing -> Review -> Finish

Chancellor's Circle

Despite all that has occurred over recent years, Bond University has remained committed to maintaining its unique student experience. In 2022, we turn our attention to the future through the following initiatives to enhance the student experience and community at Bond University.

Creative Arts Connections
While the University does not have a fine arts program, there are many related activities that take place around campus, albeit in an informal manner. Examples include our internationally recognised art collection, Indigenous painting program, student bands and orchestra, creative writing opportunities, and dance and drama clubs. However, these activities are largely ad-hoc and not connected in a thematic manner.

A developing strategy is for the University to align itself with key stakeholders in the arts, to grow its vision statement both internally and externally. This will add diversity to campus life and raise the profile of Bond University, while creating a culture of inclusiveness, increasing student and stakeholder engagement and opening opportunities for gifted students.

The centrepiece of the strategy is the establishment of an annual Bond Arts Week to showcase our students and their creative passions and artistic talents. By engaging with the arts community and organisations, resources are needed to help bring the arts to life in a well-structured manner, as we strengthen our relationships and connectedness in a way that will cement our shared future on a deeper holistic level.

Pathology Museum Upgrade
The Bond Medical School has developed into one of the largest and most prestigious schools at the University. One of the distinctive attributes of Bond’s Medical graduates is their superior grasp of clinical skills. The focus on patient diagnosis and individualised treatment have been a hallmark of the Medicine program since its establishment over a decade ago. Bond’s doctors have been consistently recognised by the profession as being amongst the most well-equipped graduates, ready to make a valuable contribution to the nation’s healthcare.

Part of our success has been the training in pathology centred around the Pathology Museum. This museum contains some rare specimens and was created by retired Professor David Weedon. As the Medicine program continues to grow, the Pathology Museum requires a refurbishment to keep pace with the demand and needs of the students, representing a one-off but necessary expense.

Chris Del Mar Memorial Medal
As Dean of Health Sciences and Medicine from 2004 to 2010, the late Professor Chris Del Mar AM (1947-2022) led the establishment of Bond University's very successful medical program. In addition to setting up the medical program, Professor Del Mar fostered Bond's emerging research profile, including leading several National Health and Medical Research Council grants. He was an internationally known researcher on respiratory infections and had an extraordinary influence on General Practice and General Practice research. He was honoured with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners' highest award, the Rose-Hunt medal in 2008. Professor Del Mar was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2021.

The named medal will both honour Professor Chris Del Mar’s vision and dedication to the Medical Program and provide inspiration aspirations for the student cohort. It is intended that the medal will become synonymous with absolute excellence through its award each year to the best graduate. The medal will forever recognise Chris Del Mar’s enduring legacy.

Endowment Fund
The University’s endowment fund provides a stable source of funding for the University to support a range of activities benefiting the students, research and community. Bond University's endowment fund policy ensures that the total principal value of your donation is never spent but is invested for the University's future. 50% of the investment earnings each year are made available to support strategic projects, and the remaining 50% is re-invested, meaning your donation will grow in perpetuity. This means that your donation will continue to grow and support Bond in generations to come.

Your gift to the Bond University 2022 Chancellor’s Circle appeal, of $5,000 or more, will provide critical financial support for our students’ future, enabling them to realise and fulfill their potential.

Recognition of your valuable support includes invitations to special events, a commemorative pin, listing of your name on our website, and a formal listing on the Chancellor's Circle honour board in the Chancellery.
